BRID MANIFOLD, GALWAY
Brid has been working with Geatoir since 2022.
Brid's extensive career in family law spans over two decades as a sole practitioner solicitor, and prior to that as a solicitor in private practice and public service with the Legal Aid Board. Brid’s interest and commitment to law from the outset was related to her interest in working with people, principally working in the area of family law, asylum law, and child care, where the need for advocate support and sensitive case management is greatest.
Brid has also worked as a mediator and a collaborative lawyer in family cases. In 2004, Brid received her first training in collaborative law. This led to a career dedicated to alternative dispute resolution processes. In 2007, Brid organised a training in Collaborative Law for over 40 solicitor colleagues in the West of Ireland, delivered by Pauline Tessler, pioneer of the collaborative method in San Francisco, USA.
In 2009, Brid established a specialist family law practice and completed her family mediation training with Resolution, the UK Family Lawyers Association. This certification is recognised by the Mediators Institute of Ireland.
Brid has worked with client advocates from early in her career, recognising the essential nature of this service for clients at a challenging time, when the stakes are high for clients and their families. The advocacy service allows for better outcomes for all parties, and ensures a more supportive and less stressful legal experience for clients.
